Gak

It's most fun to post this when I don't think anyone is reading it anymore.

Yes, Boston is different from New York. When we lived in New York, I seemed to get one ailment at a time. Here they all seem to occur in rapid succession. This is a good thing, I finally feel like I am being punished for all the evil I have wrought on the world and its inhabitants. First it was the rash (allergy?) Then the ear (dehydration, so the doc says), being taken to the hopsital by my boss after several hours of throwing up in the work bathroom (supposedly food poisoning) then the leg locking up again. Now I think I just have a regular cold, but it's probably bird flu.

House is not sold yet, not ready to be sold, but we have a storage area which is not nearly big enough for all the crap we don't need but have nowhere to put.

Why am I still awake? I had a Frappio about 9 hours ago, butg it still seems to be working its "magic" on my brain. More like voodoo.

I miss my girls.

I need to get a client that picks up mah music selection automagically. Yes, still alive, a lot of stuff has happened and a lot has not. Bree is 4 months old, Monique is 2 years, same house, same job. Fixed PSP screen & GTA:LCS means time is the balancing act is has been since #1 came along. Miss the people I don't see anymore. Annoyed how easily everyone gets annoyed at everything so easily. Need to go shower and have a nice glass of milk before bed. More later.

Like they say in the movies....

yes, it was a very quiet weekend. We helped Amy's brother move out of his suite at UAlbany. I played Metal Gear AC!D and HSG a lot, and we cleaned the house like crazy. I *should* have been at my friend Jason's bachelor party on Saturday, but alas my horrific experiences at such events (including my own) made me shy away from that venue. I had to settle for playing Hold 'Em the night before with the guys until 1:30, I even won a game :-)

PGtoo is also very very quiet now, a ton of people seem to have suicided, for what reason I don't really know. Fortunately it's still serving its original purpose, i.e. an AIM relay for me...

Oh, and we're supposed to get the paperwork for our new (to us) car this week. Yay!

Not much else to say, except they need more PSP games!

Short-tempered and
mostly brawn, you like to be number one and be
good at something. There's just something about
you that makes you feel different from everyone
else, even if you may not know it. You feel
very unnatural at times and may fight with the
leader sometimes. You are mostly friendly but
you have your violent tantrums at times. You
aren't the most patient person and can get very
annoyed if something doesn't meet your
standards. You sometimes feel inadequate but
try to fit in the best you can. You enjoy
challenges, be they video games or something
relating to it. You are a nice person on the
inside but your outside reflects differently
occassionally.

Which Teen Titans Character Are You?
brought to you by Quizilla

I had to change an answer, I came up as Robin the first time, and I didn't like it ;-)

Finally

Man, couldn't remember my password. WHy exactly does logjam tell me I haven't logged in in 45 days? Does that change the fact that I want to log in NOW? Jesus.

Anyway, wanted to throw out some of the stuff Ive been listening to/purchased recently

Green Day: American Idiot: AWESOME. I'm assuming it should be titled 'Jesus of Suburbia' since they use that line in almost every song, but perhaps were worried about a backlash from the very religious (read: insane) folks out there.

Cake: Pressure Chief: Another great cake album. I have to admit though, 'Take It All Away' has to be the most generic sounding song they have ever made, to have it right at the beginning of the album is depressing. The rest of the tracks are good though.

Muse: Absolution: Wow. Wow wow wow. This is some incredible stuff. It's like Radiohead but with less insane ;-)

Let's see, the new hosting povider, Linode, seems to be working out nicely. There does seem to be some lag intiially when I first log in to check my email, but otherwise it seems fine. I really just use my box for hosting www and ftp, email is sort of lower on the priority list since gmail kicks so much ass.

Let's see what else. Ahh, finally got to San Fierro in GTA: San Andreas. Man it takes some time to drive from place to place in this game, it seems unnecessarily spread out, this game. Still an incredible experience and I can't wait to keep playing it.

Okay, that's enough stuff for now. Night night :)

Yes, Im posting! I wonder if anyone besides Amy even reads this page anymore :)

Life is so much better now that we threw away those old rugs cluttering (and stinking) up the house. Monique even walks small distances now, it's incredible to see. One of her new past times is to offer food to me or Amy, then when we reach for it she eats it. I assume this is my fault, since when I feed her if she doesn't eat what Im holding (usually a Cheerio) I eat it myself.

Moniquey will be 1 year old at the end of the month. Where did the time go? Certainly not into blogging :-)

We got a membership to GameZNFlix, will try to remember to post a review of how it is working out. We should have two video games and a movie shortly, so I can be the last person in Ameria to try a rental-my-mail service...

I'm certain I'm old now, I don't know whether it was all the sun I got or the volume, but something made me feel awful halfway through the show. Anyway, It was cool to get to see MxPx and Bad Religion, and most of the other bands were pretty good too.

Today's agenda is to visit Dave and Jess and try to get back to the house and get on with the cleaning.

Today was my 1st Father's Day as a, you know, father. Monique threw up on me twice, heh. She has an ear infection, been pretty fussy recently. It was also my 1st Father's Day without my Grandpa Joe, and amy's Grandpa Cayea. I wonder if it's just my family where grandparents are called by their first name?

So it was both a happy and sad day. We didn't get to see my dad this weekend because I had promised Amy we would spend Father's Day at her family's. It's nice to be hone though. Speaking of which, I should get to bed, work in the morning, newish job you know...

ttyS

Is that extreme? Not nearly as extreme as half the 700 disgusting pornographic emails in my spam folder.

Do I sound upset? Anyway, the reason for that rant is I changed my blog so now you have to be registered to post. If I have to give you a token to register then let me know, apologies all.
God there's no time anymore. Mark H and Rich both called us over the weekend, and we haven't had time to return either call. I made myself stay up tonight so I could release that version of nano that's weeks overdue. How do parents do it?? Honestly though, I don' think Monique has much to do with it. I just come home late, and tonight was bowling, so I was home for all of 45 minutes before I needed to leave again. Amy must love me. Well, the good news is the rest of the week should theoretically be slower. Maybe we'll even have time to play Champions of Norrath, which was my present to me for getting this promotion/whatever at work. Maybe.

To elaborate on the whole job thing, you have to realize the following: Since 2000 when I moved to Albany, I've worked for 4 different contracting companies. To stay with GE Research where I work now, I would have to switch again, making it 5. 5 different companies over the course of 2 jobs. This is why I HATE CONTRACTING. I fail to see why IT employees are so God Damn specialized that they should be the only people contracted out and expected to jump from one contracting company to another to keep working at the same place. Yes I realize 'because I will do it', but if you think for a second that given the chance I won't take a job with a company that understands that IT folks want some STABILITY, go get your head checked out. And they wonder why turnover in our industry is so high?! Here's a clue: REWARD THE HARD WORKERS WITH FULL-TIME EMPLOYMENT OR THEY BAIL.

Monique seems to get bigger by the day. I think of all our friends that have never even met her yet, it's very saddening. I'm truly terrified of bringing our baby out to Boston (where 99.999% of our friends live), those Mass people are freaking nutcases on the highways.

And now for something completely different

I found out today from some sources in the know what's going on with my job. Apparently, the entire UnixOps team at GE is being replaced with genetically engineered monkeys. They are touch typists and they were painstakingly trained to be able to say "RTFM". So I guess it's good to finally know that that's the direction GE decided to go.

Realistically, I won't know for ANOTHER week. I keep hearing it will be this day, then that day. I've given up on GE I think, which is too bad because it's been a pretty good place to work. Oh well.

It's 3:00AM I must be tired as fsck

Yep, back to the seldom posting. I have something good to report, so here it goes: We went to Q and Francesca's wedding this weekend, and had a wonderful time. We got to see Rich & Liz, Jay & Erika, and of course the bride and groom. This is the first wedding I had been to in a LOOOOOOOOONG time that neither Amy nor I was in, so we got to relax and take it all in. The thing that sticks out the most in my mind was when Erika and Jay, driving us back to from the wedding, seemed shocked that I considered myself to be a 'left wing hippie'. Perhaps what I should have said was 'bleeding heart Liberal', but the point got across. Just cause I'm a shy white boy doesn't make me a Republican baby! Don't get me started on the War again!

Of other noteworthy news, I'm not shortening my name. After much conversation with Amy "I will not be named Amy Sue Foo!", the fact that legally shortening my name seems pointless, and the thought of saying my name is Astyanax Allegretta, I will leave it Christian. It's a great conversation piece about how people don't want their children to think for themselves, especially about religion. I told my mom I didn't believe in Jesus' divinity, and she said 'of course you do!' Um, what? I think I just said I didn't. Hope you aren't reading this mom :-)

Had a nice conversation with 'ren before I ran out to the store, I should really get to bed. I didn't explain why Im up did I?! Went to bed at 5PM, woke up at mdnight. I need to get to work at 7 tomorrow for various reasons, and now I feel sleepy. I'm scrizewed folks :-).

Laaaaalaaaaaa

Yeah haven't been updating as much. I've been thinking about how less useful a blog seems the more often you update. In general, if you only post every 3 months you will write things like 'My job's doing so-so, we're thinking of moving to Montana. I have a new idea for a widget flangifier'. Major things. When you post more than once a day, it seems to be more along the lines of 'I have an itch. Burp'. I don't mean to say that my friends lives aren't interesting, just that we used to have that issues with Playground. You get into a too great a detail in someone's life, ab intimate level without paying as much attention to the big things, and it's less meaningful as a result. Just one opinion.

Anyway, we're pretty much snowed in here, so it will be a fun weekend if my on-call pager goes off (I'm on call this week by the way, for fabulous GE Global Research). Amy's still doing the working from home gig, and Monique has been fussier lately. Better go do something that makes life seem more meaningful...

Tick tock

Well, Amy's been a trooper, but apparently Monique has had her up a good portion of the night, so it's time for daddy to take over. All Monique wants to do anymore is feed, and then puke it back up. I was certainly hoping she would never make puking a part of her daily routing, but I certainly didn't even expect it until her teens. Amy think this is a stage....I hope so.

Anyway, so the only thing on this time of day besides infomercials is cartoons. I never realized what blatan rip-offs JabberJaw and Clue Club were of Scooby Doo, especially the latter. I used to think Clue Club was the bomb as a child. No wonder it wasn't on for long.

I had a job interview on Thursday for a higher up position at GE. Didn't get the job. Not surprised, but one of my coworkers also applied who I think was more qualified than I was didn't even get an interview. Makes me wonder if the process itself is broken. This contracting thing is getting very old, very fast. But yes, I'm still very grateful to have a job.

The Sun is coming up! First sunrise I've seen in a long time. Past two nights I had 10+ hours of sleep, which likely was making up for the avg of 3 I was having before that. I don't know how Amy does this, especially now that she's working from home too. Women are amazing beings! Anyway ttfn.

Yes, I haven't blogged in forever. There's a LOT going on right now, work, moving, etc. More on etc. later. For now, rest assured I'm alive and almost sane.

Now to finish unpacking the rest of these 2439 boxes....
